Teledyne is developing new thermoelectric systems, including Stirling generators with the goal of advancing thermoelectric efficiency.

Instead of using the Seebeck effect these generators use a Stirling engine cycle. The Stirling generator works by using the expansion and contraction of gas to  reciprocate a piston. The reciprocating piston is connected to a linear alternator which generates the electricity​​​
